Planting, Playing and Pastries – HAF at The Puddle

Reading Time: 3 minutes

This half term, Families United have come to conquer The Puddle! For the past two Friday sessions, the families have been coming for free food and fun & games, getting some planting projects done in the process. With the help from our awesome adult provision, the kids have been using our pitch for football, growing some delicious veg and exploring what our little corner of the world has to offer.

Getting Muddy

Two of our members of our adult provision organised an excellent planting workshop, and plenty of the families got stuck in! We had peppers, radishes and beetroots being grown, done with plenty of love and care. Children were invited to pick their own seeds, sort their own soil, give the plants some water, and given instructions to take home so they know exactly how to keep their plants happy long after leaving. All of the families were excited about having their own little shrub to look after, and we bet we will have a few photos of some well grown veggies in a few months.

Sports for all

When not doing their planting, majority of the families were out doing sports! We had future footballers and great golfers out and about, using all of what we had to offer. Family competitions were in full swing, with parents and carers fighting to beat their little prodigies at the mini golf. We had a blend of sports out on the pitch, with at one point a combination of tennis and football being played; which we think could be a good contender for the next Olympics.

Energy Boost (aka cake)

The amount of energy burned was so high that our families and our adults all needed a good break. That’s where food came in! A huge buffet was provided, and wiped clean like a swarm of locusts had come through. Although we noticed a clear favourite among the food provided – the delicious cupcakes. Even our adult provision couldn’t resist them. Organising takes a lot of hard work people!

A Perfect Day

With bellies full and plenty of fun had, it’s clear the start of our HAF has been a great success. We are looking forward to seeing what other mischief Families United get up to in the rest of our sessions. They’re running till the 29th of August, so hopefully there will be lots more excitement to be done.

Battling Storm Amy – Our Second Camping Trip!

Reading Time: 3 minutesOur second camping trip at The Puddle Project with the Adult Provision was one to remember! Originally planned for 3rd October, we hadn’t realised that Storm Amy was also making her appearance that weekend. But when our adults heard about the weather, their determination only grew stronger
