Families United

Supporting Families & Children With Disabilities

Families United have developed a local support network within our group led by 4 of our trustees whom themselves have a child who has a disability. The whole family are provided with the opportunity to attend a variety of local activities & trips that are suitable for each member.

In doing so, we aim to increase the health, wellbeing and social opportunities for our members. We unite our families so that they find support in each other through shared experiences, strategies and the understanding of the impact that having a child with SEND can have in family life.

Wargrave House

Educating Young People With Autism

Founded by Bessie Berman in 1971, Wargrave House is a non-maintained special school for children and young people aged 5-16 years, diagnosed with autism.

We support and educate autistic people throughout their lives, and redefine what’s possible by providing innovative and transformative services.

Homestart

Building Community: Family Support Services

Families need our support for a variety of reasons. Families can be isolated, lonely, struggling with depression and anxiety and physical health problems and many other reasons.

We recruit and train family support volunteers who can help a family in their home for up to 3 hours a week or empower and encourage them to access community groups. Homestart hold groups three times a week at the outdoor playgroup at The Puddle Project. The groups enable parents to meet other parents and help them to feel less isolated and part of the community.
