Battling Storm Amy – Our Second Camping Trip!

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Our second camping trip at The Puddle Project with the Adult Provision was one to remember! Originally planned for 3rd October, we hadn’t realised that Storm Amy was also making her appearance that weekend. But when our adults heard about the weather, their determination only grew stronger – they were going camping, come rain, shine or howling winds! After careful conversations with parents and carers, the group stood their ground, ready to take on the challenge. And so, on a very wet and windy Friday, the adventure began! In true Puddle style, spirits were high as everyone worked together to pitch the tents – luxury comfort, of course.

A quick shopping trip to Aldi followed, where the essentials were gathered and yes, that may have included a little alcohol for the evening! Breakfast ingredients were also stocked up, ready for the morning after.

As the rain poured down and the wind howled, the group settled in for a night full of karaoke, games, laughter, and a classic chippy tea. Despite the storm raging outside, not a single person batted an eyelid – the sense of togetherness and fun was stronger than the weather itself.

By 7am, the camp was already awake to the smell of sizzling bacon and sausage butties, cooked up for everyone to enjoy. Tired but happy faces filled the morning air and it was clear that the night had been a success.

What stood out most wasn’t just the fun, but the independence and confidence each adult shown throughout the experience. From setting up their own tents to taking charge of shopping, every moment reflected how much they’ve grown.

The opportunities created – and even the chaos caused – continue to enhance not just skills, but self-belief and resilience. At The Puddle Project, we’re so proud to see our adults embracing every challenge, rain or shine!
